Weeks 10-12

Project Play

Project Play for me was difficult to find the time to "play" but once I got into it I really felt that I learned alot. I have a few projects I would like to do since I started Project Play. I would like to start a staff blog and get use Flickr for our pictures.

I do intend to do Project Play 2 and this time I will try harder to stay caught up.

Project Play Week 9

This weeks assignment was on Wikis. I inserted a link to the library's web page on a Kaukauna wiki. I will be searching for more wikis about Kaukauna to be sure we have a link on any that are appropriate. As library users use more technology the library needs to be aware of this technology and even take the lead in providing information to our users. Using a wiki a library could easily provide more detailed information for special collections such as a local history collection.

Project Play Week 8

The tagging is very interesting to me. I have no problem with the lack of "control". To me it is great to use the words "real people" would use.

One of the assignment questions was how would libraries harness sites like Delicious. I guess I don't see that as a library problem at this time.

I created a site check it out.

This could be very helpful for library staff working together on a project. Especially if there is some travel involved in getting together. It would also save time since information could be shared prior to a meeting. Everyone could look at it on their own schedule before the meeting and arrive at a meeting involved and ready to act.

Project Play Week 7

My list from Library disappeared. It was there and then went away after I did some editing. Maybe my post was too long. This is my second try.

Project Play Week 7

This week I learned about Library Thing. I thought it was great. I listed five books I have enjoyed. I feel Library Think would be great to keep track of what you have read.
I like the common information area. You can record the information and can go back to it and it will help you remember information about the book.
Suggestr recommended a book for me and I have placed a hold on it and will try it. I thought that was great. When I first tried Suggester I was not impressed but after playing with it for awhile I changed my mind about it.
While I was using the web site I got a message that the site was down for one to five minutes. I found this very frustrating but actually was only down for a little bit and the books I had put on were still there. I was afraid I would have to start over. Below is my list.

Project Play Lesson 6

I loved the lesson about Flickr. I can see this being very useful in the library. We can use it to post pictures from our local history collection. We have a number of unidentified pictures that people may be able to help us identify. It would also be useful to promote library programs, in particular the prizes for the summer reading program. As we start our building project it will be an easy way to keep the community informed of our progress.

I loved this picture of the Fire Tower in Mountain. I have personally climbed this tower many times and the view is awesome.
